Distinctions
Silversea's featured destinations include Alaska cruises which incorporate trips to the Hubbard Glacier and some excellent wildlife spotting opportunities.
With each one of Silversea’s ships being an all-suite vessel; the standard of accommodation is very high. Not only that, but they are all ocean facing and so everyone is guaranteed a great view of the passing scenery. Even the Vista Suites, found at the lower end of the list of options, offer a sitting area as well as your bedroom, an elegantly decorated bathroom with full-sized bath and separate shower, panoramic views through picture windows, and a variety of mod-cons that keep you firmly in touch with the twenty-first century.
Needless to say, the accommodation options at the other end of the scale are even more impressive. Grand Suites will offer everything listed above with the addition of a whirlpool tub in the bathroom, a vanity table, walk-in wardrobe and increased space throughout the cabin. Add in the fact that over 85% of all the suites have a veranda (two in some Grand Suites) and you really do have the ideal home from home.
It is clear that food takes just as much precedence as comfort and luxury when you sail with Silversea; something that probably doesn’t come as a surprise when you learn that the company is owned and operated by an Italian family. With so many dining options, some which offer the opportunity to book a table and some which provide a more relaxed experience, everybody is catered for when it comes to meal times.
The main restaurant aboard each ship offers open seating and so you are free to come and go as you wish, and this is complimented by the more formal seating arrangements of both La Terrazza and Le Champagne.
If, however, the weather is so nice that you can’t bear to take yourself away from the pool or you fancy something a little bit lighter in the middle of the day; the Pool Grill is an ideal setting. Here you can enjoy rustic, oven-fired pizza and other classics at lunch time as well as turning temporary chef in the evening to cook your own food at your table on a slab of heated volcanic rock.
It’s great that there are so many facilities offered on board these relatively small ships so that, even though many people choose to do nothing more than…well, nothing, you have the option to be as active as you like. From whiling away the hours in the glorious Panorama Lounge to keeping up with your usual fitness schedule in the gum; there is plenty to do on board.
Those who still haven’t reached their optimum level of relaxation can see if the spa can help them achieve this, whilst others can enjoy a cooling dip in the pool, a quiet moment in the library, or hope to hit a lucky streak in the casino.
And the entertainment doesn’t cease when the sun goes down either. Once you have finished a delightful meal in one of the many dining areas, you can head to the Show Lounge and continue your evening in the company of live music, comedy and dance performers. And just as bedtime nears, why not head to the elegant Connoisseur’s Corner to enjoy one final nightcap.
An enrichment programme that includes activities such as wine tasting, dance classes and on-deck games will interest many, but perhaps the most luxurious facility available is one which you don’t have to move a muscle to take advantage of.
There are many different types of shore-based activities that you can experience when you take a Silversea cruise; allowing you to truly immerse yourself in the destinations that you visit. These range from short trips in all of the 450 ports that Silversea visit, such as wildlife safaris and walking/hiking tours, all the way up to multi-day adventures that take you away from the ship for an extended period before meeting up again with it later on.
You can even plan your own private excursions that aren’t on the list of those available by consulting with the onboard concierge and planning a trip that is tailor-made to your interests. Private cars are also available to book to help you explore any location in a bit more detail, whilst you can also extend your holiday with a pre or post cruise stay in a hotel.
All excursions are available to be booked up to 120 days in advance of your trip.
