I started working for Thomson Holidays as an overseas rep in 1981, intending to stay for 6 months and loved the job so much that I stayed for 7 years. It was the most amazing experience, I even learnt to speak Spanish which has been so helpful over the years as it is so widely spoken in many countries. Since working for Thomson I have been in retail since 1988, and since 1991 with Fred Olsen Travel.
The people that I meet, loyal customers that I have been booking for years and meeting new people. I still get that feel good factor every time I do a new booking, especially when it is a person's holiday-of-a-lifetime and we find something that ticks all the boxes.
I would love to visit Australia because it is a country of extreme contrasts. I would love to experience the fun in Sydney, see the unspoilt nature of the Outback and I would love see the beaches at Surfers Paradise.
A childhood dream has always been to visit the Hawaiian Islands after watching the film South Pacific.
I regularly book some friends on Sea Dream Yacht Club around the Caribbean, this an Ultra Luxury Yacht Cruise Line with just over 100 passengers and nearly as many crew to tend to your every need. One day I would love to try this as I really enjoy cruising and I love being pampered.
1) Definitely choose a good travel agent who will make sure you have all the correct documents, tickets visas etc.
2) Research the place you are visiting so no time is wasted once in the resort.
3) Be organised at least a week before you travel so that you are completely stress free before your holiday.
