I first started working in travel in 1982, after completing a one year travel and tourism course at my local further education college. Working in the travel industry was my ambition from a very early age.
My favourite thing about my job is meeting people and creating their dream holiday. The most satisfying part of my job is sharing in their excitement when booking their trip and hearing all about their experiences when they return.
I would like to go to Thailand for my next holiday. I have always wanted to visit Elephant Hills and also the ancient ruins and ornate temples - finishing off with a stay at one of the beautiful tropical beach resorts.
My dream destination has always been to visit Vancouver and the Canadian Rockies, travelling up from Vancouver on the Rocky Mountaineer (in Gold Leaf class of course!). I love stunning scenery, combined with lots of things to see and do, so this area would be my perfect holiday destination.
Cambodia and Vietnam has been my favourite holiday that I have booked for a customer, that I would like to take myself. I have always been fascinated by this area and would love to visit Ho Chi Minh, Angkor Wat and Phnom Penh.
My favourite childhood holidays were those spent camping in France and Spain...such wonderful carefree days spent in the fresh air!
1) Quick-Dry beach towel
2) A bag for day use
3) Appropriate footwear for the holiday
1) Roll your clothes, don't fold...you'll be surprised at how much more you can fit in your luggage and how less creased they are at the other end!
2) Always make sure you have something with you to while away the time spent waiting at airports or during your flight (eg a good book, pack of cards etc). If you are travelling with children, make sure you have plenty of things that will help to keep them amused during your journey.
3) Allow plenty of time for your journey to your departure point and for your check in.
