I arrived in Marrakech early evening and was met by the lovely Club Med staff at Marrakech airport for my onward transfer to Club Med Marrakech. My first impression of the hotel and grounds was “WOW” this is truly stunning. After checking in at reception and having a refreshing glass of freshly squeezed juice, I was shown to my room.
The room was a very traditional Moroccan-style room with twin beds, a separate shower and toilet, and a dressing area, all amenities were supplied – shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner. There was plenty of wardrobe space, a complimentary safe and a lovely large spacious balcony.
I met up with Jo, our group leader for a lovely dinner in the main buffet restaurant and drinks in the bar. The restaurant was very spacious with outdoor seating and you could choose a variety of different options from local cuisine to pasta.
After a lovely breakfast, we were able to sample the facilities of the Club Med Resort. The resort has an array of sports and activities on offer… mountain biking, tennis, archery, golf courses, 9-hole putting green, driving range, flying trapeze, yoga, aqua fit, Pilates, and a very well equipped gym. All of the sports and activities offered different classes and sessions whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced. All of the equipment and facilities were of a professional standard.
We spent time at the adults area pool which had a lovely chilled feel about it. Pool towels are included and were available at the main pool stations or the adults-only station.
Later that afternoon we had a very informative tour of the resort and were taken to “Le Riad” a separate area of the resort which was very luxurious. This offers a separate restaurant, pool area, and beautiful rooms with either a private roof terrace or a private garden. Guests staying in this area can use all the facilities of the main resort, however if you are not staying in “Le Riad” you can’t use their facilities.
We were hosted in the evening by the hotel manager at the Gold Members reception, which takes place every Monday evening. The manager was fabulous and got up on the mic and sang his heart out and everyone was up dancing and having a great time.
Today we headed into the centre of Marrakech with our lovely tour guide, approx. 20 minutes from Club Med Marrakech. We visited the oldest mosque in Morocco and then headed into the bazaar and souks and the old town of Marrakech. Having a tour guide with us was the best way to see all that Marrakech has to offer as they are very informative and take you to all the areas that you probably would not know about if walking around on your own.
The way I can describe Marrakech is like being in the middle of an Indiana Jones Movie. It is amazing, from little alleys with locals selling their hand-crafted goods, to the snake charmer’s in the main square of Jemaa el-Fna. The smell of spices and the local food – is just amazing!!
We returned to Club Med Marrakech for the afternoon with lunch in the “El Kebir” restaurant. This is an authentic Moroccan restaurant where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner (with a reservation) and serves traditional Moroccan Cuisine with an authentic Moroccan feel.
We also ate here in the evening which was lovely as we had a traditional Moroccan meal.
Today was the day to say goodbye to Club med Marrakech until the next time.
Overall, I thought the resort was fantastic for singles, couples and families with children of all ages as there were a lot of activities included in the price of the holiday. The children’s clubs were great and there was a babysitting service on offer for younger children which can be pre-booked in the UK. The resort had a lot of French holidaymakers and we probably only met a few British and a few Americans.
My experience was amazing and Jo from Club Med was an absolute star.
